- Park Continues His Successful Run as an Independent Artist with High-Energy and Collaborative Show
"You never know what you're going to get with hip hop shows. Usually it's the finger in their air and the hyped vibes, but Ted Park wasn't like that." -Anonymous Saturday, May 13, 2023 was another memorable night for fans of Ted Park as he returned to perform again in his hometown as a headliner, following his first time doing so in December 2022. On this night at Aisle 5 in Atlanta, Park was joined by openers DJ Jay Envy!, OOWOAH, Lewie, and collaborator and friend, Parlay Pass. Before the show, fans were lined up outside, excited to see Park perform live again. Some were newer fans (having discovered Park when he opened for PH1 on his recent tour) while others had been following him for years. Some were residents of Atlanta as well, but others had traveled long distances (up to 7 hours!) to see him perform. Ever the gracious host, Park stopped by to greet and visit with the fans lined up outside. As fans entered the 625- capacity venue, they were greeted by the sound of DJ Jay Envy! With a mix of genres ranging from R&B Ballads to Hip Hop basslines, this DJ knew how to make sure the crowd’s energy was set for what was coming next. The first artist to take the stage was OOWOAH, a 19-year-old Atlanta native whose live performance career began that night. With any first-time performing artist, attendees perhaps take a few bars to warm up to the artist’s sound – but this crowd was captivated and cheered along to his raps and sang along as they learned the lyrics. At the end of his performance, OOWOAH said “this may have been my first time performing live, but it won’t be my last!!!” The next opener is a Washington native who defines our idea of a #Soundlover. Lewie’s reason to pursue music was simply because he “just loved the sound” then “fell in love with the influence and the art process.” Lewie’s latest single came just in time for this tour stop. His collaboration with Ted Park, Down 4 You, was released on May 5, 2023, and later rejoined Park on stage to perform the track together. He expressed his affection for both Park (and his “dope personality and songs” as well as his “lit fans.” The next artist to take the stage was no stranger for anyone who has ever attended any of Park's events. Long-time collaborator and friend, Parlay Pass, delivered an effortless style of trap that got the crowd jumping. As he continued to interact with collaborators, media and fans alike - - he did something a little different your typical indie artists. Parlay took the time to teach and explain the words noona and dongsaeng; As well as how they related to his lyrics. He also took time to teach the crowd to count for "Hana, Dool, Set" Park’s fans eagerly anticipated his arrival on stage and launched into screams when the opening bars of his hype song Friend of Mine began to play. As he launched through the doorway on stage, he and the fans were energetically jumping and throwing their arms in the air. He also mixed in Jjajang Mami, Coca Cola (an homage to curvy girls) and kept the hype going with Slip n Slide which also had an insane level of crowd participation and energy. Park performed a number of other fan favorite songs that the crowd eagerly sang along with, including Adore You, Dior You, Kakao, Dance Like Jay Park, Freezer, and Drippin. Parlay Pass also returned to the stage to perform tracks from their recently-released album, The Pain, such as 4 AM, Over & Over, and Monday to Sunday. Park also performed several as-yet-unreleased songs, such as Adderall, and Weekend. The fan response to these tracks was immediate and positive, heightened by Park’s energy and enthusiasm for showing his newest work to his fans. He shared that he still has hundreds of tracks that he has held back on releasing out of concern that they might not be good enough, but he said “no more!” He related that he loves hearing new work by his peers and wants to continue to trust that his fans will also be excited to hear his new music in the future, too. Park recounted how naysayers told him he wasn’t ready to tour on his own but he launched out on a solo tour successfully in 2022 and again this year, bringing a crowd to shows organically and independently, without having to rely on heavy marketing and promotions. One thing is clear is that Park’s fans are loyal – if Park decides to have a show in Atlanta, they WILL show up and show out: “A-T-L-HO!”. Their affection for him is genuine and among the many reasons given, a big factor that can’t be discounted is his own genuine-ness and caring for not just his fans but everyone he encounters. Park’s impact on everyone that he comes into contact with is unforgettable. Fans praised both his talent and his ability to be genuine and remain down-to-earth and wholeheartedly REAL in his music. Those who have worked with him on collaborations or on stage know how much he values and encourages them and their work. But even venue staff recognized how Park is different: “You never know what you are going to get when dealing with hip hop artists. Typically it’s the ‘F you’ finger in the air sort of vibe, but Ted Park wasn’t like that.” Multiple staff said that his actions spoke volumes about his level of respect and consideration for others, without taking away from his ability to entertain the crowd and bring a high-energy show that thrilled fans and kept everyone hyped throughout the night. ——— Immediately after the show, Park kept his promise to have a meet & greet with his fans. Park truly took his time with each of them (vs rushed assembly-line-style fan events that are common for other artists in certain K-music genres). He also extended an invitation to fans (of legal drinking age) to the after-party. You can find our full photo gallery from the Atlanta stop here.

- [EXCLUSIVE Interveiw] Get To Know Emerging Independent Korean R&B Artsit, Jae Kim
Welcome back #SoundLovers🎶! Today, we want to introduce you to an emerging indie artist that has been releasing music since late 2020. Emerging Indie K-R&B Artist, JAE KIM (born 2023.10.26), first made his appearance on TikTok in April 2020 with his cover dance of MCND's single, "Spring." In October 2020 -- six months following his first appearance on TikTok -- Jae released his first single, "Love Kills." Since the release of his first single, Jae has gone on to release five additional singles-- along with a collaborative single title, "Secret," with rising artists Nomichit and Jessie Cabrera. His latest single, "IDK" comes only three short months after Jae opened for Shaun's "ON THE ROAD' Tour in Toronto. We had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Jae, and here's what he had to say about his start in music, his time on TikTok, his experience as an emerging artist during the Pandemic while attending college *yikes -- talk about a full schedule*-- and his latest release "IDK." K Fuse: We are beyond grateful for this opportunity. We want to first and foremost thank you for taking time to talk with us here at K FUSE! For our #SoundLovers, would you give a little introduction about yourself? Jae Kim: Hello readers of K FUSE! I'm Jae -- an independent Korean R&B artist currently living in Toronto. thank you for taking the time to read my interview. K Fuse: Was there an experience or someone in your life that influenced you to start pursuing music? Tell us about that. Jae Kim: Ever since I was young, I always had a strong interest in music. I stated with instruments, but later got an interest in singing after listening to IU on TV for the first time. Although I'm not quite sure if she's what influenced me to start music, but I think she's one of my biggest role models as of today. K Fuse: On October 10, 2020, you released your first single, "Love Kills," and in July of 2021, you took a different approach with "Imagine.". How would you explain the differing sounds of the two songs? What sparked the change in sound? Jae Kim: I think as an artist, I want to show my versatility through my music. I never want to be restricted to one sound, and because of that I think that with each of my songs I try to change the style a little bit to keep my listeners always questioning what type of song I'll release next. Also, I think as I release songs that have different sounds, I become more conscious of the type of music I like to make, as well as what type of music suits me! I think it's all a work in progress and I enjoy the process. K Fuse: As an emerging artist who wrote songs during a pandemic, and even during times of lock down, do you think that gave you time to explore new sounds? Do you think it had an effect on your creative process? Jae Kim: I'm actually a really big home-body, so if I'm being completely honest the pandemic didn't really feel that much different to me than my day to day. However, if I were to say one thing about the pandemic, I think it definitely gave me more time (overall) to work on music, which I think might have helped lead me to where I am today. K Fuse: On top of being an emerging artist during a pandemic, you were also attending college (congratulations on graduation)! What was your biggest challenge while pursuing both an education and music career? What has been the most rewarding part of your journey? Jae Kim: I think biggest challenge in terms of balancing the two is time! I was always struggling in terms of wanting to devote more time to my music (because I wanted to release things faster for my listeners) while also balancing my grades. I'd say the most rewarding part of m journey his that I've learned a lot of design skills that have really helped me in terms of my music career! K Fuse: Speaking of college, what made you decide to pursue graphic design? Jae Kim: I was always really interested in the arts from a young age, but I also am a very logical person - because of that I thought that graphic design would be a great middle ground of creativity and logic (I think graphic design involves a lot of problem solving). K Fuse: Did you ever consider a different major? If so, what was it? Jae Kim: I actually originally intended on becoming a pharmacist and was studying for it, but I realized pretty quickly that I really didn't like that industry (particularly math), so I ended up changing my majors. K Fuse: Are there any artists with whom you would love to collaborate with? f so, who? Jae Kim: I think I would love to collaborate with DEAN or Baekhyun one day! K Fuse: Let's talk about your new single "IDK," which released on July 14. How would you describe "IDK?" Jae Kim: "IDK" is an upbeat summer song that uses a lot of synths, pianos, and strings to create a very "dream-like" atmosphere. It has a very upbeat melody but has sadder lyrics so I hope listeners will enjoy that contrast! K Fuse: Is there a meaning behind the name? Jae Kim: The name "IDK" is just reflective of the feeling expressed by the singer - they're unsure about why they're falling out of love with their partner, and that frustration is expressed through "IDK." K Fuse: What would you say is the highlight point of "IDK?" Jae Kim: I think the highlight point of "IDK" is the catchy hook where I sing "I don't know, I don't know, I don't know!" I hope it sticks to the listeners minds. K Fuse: What would you say tends to be your typical song-writing process? Jae Kim: When it comes to song-writing, I usually think of a melody first, and as I write my melody I think of lyrics and a concept that might suit the melody, as well as the instrumental. K Fuse: How would you describe your overall sound as an artist to someone who has never listened to your music before? Jae Kim: I think I would describe my sound as bittersweet - I think a lot of my music isn't super sad, but also isn't super happy. I think even in my ore upbeat songs, there's an elemental of sadness to them that makes my music unique. K Fuse: What message / feelings do you want listeners to take away from your music? Jae Kim: I want listeners to feel like they're heard when I write my music. I try my best to write about experiences that a lot of people will relate to, because I know that at the end of the day, for a lot of people music is about healing and relieving stress. K Fuse: Are there any other music styles that you wish to explore in your future releases? Jae Kim: I've been very into "driving music" recently, and I think that i lot of future releases will be reflecting that. I'd also like to delve into more R&B in the future if I have a chance! K Fuse: Can we talk TikTok for a moment? You started TikTok with dance cover videos in April of 2020. Do you have any professional training in dance, or is it all self-taught? Jae Kim: I've taken a few classes here and there, but for the most part my dancing is all self-taught. K Fuse: What motivated you to start doing dance covers? Jae Kim: I think from a young age I always just enjoyed dancing and following along to K-pop singers, and I think that’s really what motivated me to post dance covers. I just enjoyed dancing and I think the community around K-pop dance covers is very positive as a whole and I wanted to participate in that. K Fuse: You also did a duet video with @katoproducer ( 2020.12.13 - https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8deQALP ) where you showcased a rather solid rap flow. Have you considered exploring rapping more for future releases? Jae Kim: I’ve never said this online, but I actually had a song that I ended up scrapping because I had a rap in it, and I didn’t like it. I think I’m not that confident enough in my rapping skills to release a full song in it, but the possibility is definitely not off the table! K Fuse: On April 4, you announced on IG that you were opening for Shaun’s North America Tour. What was your initial reaction when you found out you were opening for Shaun? Jae Kim: I was so honored! Shaun is an artist who I listen to a lot in my own time as well, and to have my first live performance be at the concert of an artist who I really respect was something that I felt I was really lucky to experience. K Fuse: What did you do to prepare for this performance? Jae Kim: The majority of my time was just spent practicing my singing live. I think one thing that people don’t think about is that live performances is very different from recording in a studio – there’s no breaks, it’s tiring, and you have to do everything in one try! Because of that pressure, I really practiced a lot to make sure that I could give the best performance I could. K Fuse: Did you experience any fear / nervousness before taking the stage? If so, at what moment did that feeling disappear? Jae Kim: Surprisingly I didn’t feel that nervous before the stage – I think everything was just so overwhelming and time was passing so fast that I didn’t really have time to feel nervous. But! Right after I got off stage, my entire body felt like it got hit by a truck, I was sore everywhere, and eventually I had to lie down backstage for about an hour. I think my body was probably nervous, but was holding it in because I had to perform. After I finished it probably felt that it was “safe” enough to let all that go. K Fuse: Were there any memorable moments from this performance? Jae Kim: The most memorable part of the performance was actually seeing people and interacting with the crowd. I remember in one of my songs “in june,” there’s a section in the chorus that I asked the crowd to sing along with me, and I was so shocked that they actually listened. The crowd was super supportive and cheered really loudly, and I don’t think that I’ll ever forget that feeling. K Fuse: What are your goals for the future? Jae Kim: My biggest goals for the future is bettering myself as an artist – I want to discover and solidify my sound more, write better music, and of course, grow an audience who loves my sound. Hopefully the latter half of 2023 and next year in 2024 I’ll be able to achieve that! K Fuse: What is the best advice you’ve been given? Jae Kim: The best advice that I’ve been given is always take one step at a time. Especially in this industry, I think a lot of others (myself included) often get discouraged when we see other people who are more well-known and successful, and we feel that sense of “can I really do this?” But I think as time has gone on, I realized it’s really important to set smaller goals for yourself (as well as a big goal of course) because it really helps you realize that all the work you do is for that one big goal you have. K Fuse: Do you have a message you want to leave for your fans? Jae Kim: I don’t think I say this enough, but I sincerely appreciate each and every one of my listeners and followers. I’m blessed enough to say that I have people who really enjoy my music, and I’m very grateful that I’m able to do what I do. I hope you’ll keep an eye out for the music I put out in the future, and I appreciate your support. And of course, thank you to K FUSE for having me today! #SoundLovers🎶, stay up to date with Jae on INSTAGRAM | THREADS | TIKTOK | TWITTER | YOUTUBE And be sure let us know what you think about Jae's latest release "IDK."

- CRAVITY gets "GROOVY" in Chicago During 'Masterpiece' World Tour
The Windy City was yet again greeted by Starship Entertainment’s nine-member boy group, CRAVITY on June 18, 2023. 394 days after their participation in KCON’s KCON Premiere 2022 in Chicago on May 20, 2022, members Serim, Allen, Jungmo, Woobin, Wonjin, Minhee, Hyeongjun, Taeyoung, and Seongmin returned to Chicago for their first solo U.S. tour. With this being a Studio PAV tour, there was one major difference: the members of CRAVITY had time to meet with LUVITY thanks to Studio PAV’s fan-favorite snapshot session, hi-touch session, and fan sign! The streets of Chicago were already bustling with the sounds of city traffic, while the street of W Lawrence Ave where the Copernicus Center can be found was bustling with the sounds of excited LUVITY. As fans arrived at the 1,800-capacity venue, they began their check-in process to receive their lanyards and long-awaited, and highly desirable snapshot tickets. Once check-in was completed fans were then separated based on their tier level, and thanks to STUDIO PAV’s no-line rule, this process has never been easier. When fans purchase their tickets, they are assigned a queue spot in line, and this is the order in which fans line up when they separate into tiers. Once LUVITY found their spot in line, it was time to go meet the members of CRAVITY for a fan sign, hi-touch session and group photo. Once fan engagements ended, it was time to enter the venue and await showtime. As LUVITY entered the venue they were greeted with a screen illuminated with a puzzle that was missing a piece and read “CRAVITY 1st World Tour MASTERPIECE.” As LUVITY took to their seats — some even found their way to the barricade — the venue went dark and LUVITY’s cheers filled the venue as the intro VCR began. Cheers settled as the VCR came to an end, and immediately filled the venue — only this time LUVITY were twice as loud — as the members took the stage. The initial stage performances of “Get Lifted,” “Baddie,” and “My Turn” set the energy for the first part of the night – as fans cheered louder with each stage performed. CRAVITY’s intensity was defined in just those first three songs with their wide-ranged vocal abilities, power-filled choreography and energetic raps; Which made it impossible for LUVITY to take their eyes away from the stage for even just a short moment. The members took a moment to introduce themselves as a group, and individuals, before continuing with powerful and sexy concept stages such as “Flip The Frame” and “Veni Vidi Vici,” before Woobin introduced the next stage with the following hint: Woobin: “I have really bad bad stuff” Members: “Stuff? What stuff?” Woobin: “I have a bad habit” CRAVITY finished out their first set of powerful stages with “Bad Habits” and “Gas Pedal” before slowing things down with “Give Me Your Love,” which allowed the members time to acknowledge and interact with LUVITY before picking up the venue’s energy, once again, with “Maybe Baby,” “Fly,” and fan-favorite “Boogie Woogie.” These stages showed a contrast from the beginning of the concert by “showing a more youthful concept” (Taeyoung) from the members. CRAVITY wrapped up their bright and youthful stages while still choosing different members to introduce songs where Wonjin introduced “Ooh Aah” by its chorus’ easily identifiable choreography, “PARTY ROCK,” — which had the Copernicus Center filled with the sounds of LUVITY singing along to every word — was introduced by ALLEN saying, “When I say party, you say rock,” and proceeded to interchange shouts between himself and LUVITY. The group returned to the stage to show stages that mixed the two concepts of powerful and youthful, starting with “VIVID'' and “New Addiction,” where LUVITY’s cheers filled venue once again confirming that CRAVITY has indeed became Chicago’s new addiction. We then arrived at three highly anticipated fan-favorite stages,“Jumper,” “POW!,” and “GROOVY.” These high-energy stages had the crowd wanting more as it was apparent that the members were having the time of their lives on stage — so much so that they had almost forgotten to take a bow and tell LUVITY that “GROOVY” would be their final stage. As LUVITY awaited the encore stages, it didn’t take long before, “All on my mind, All on my mind” and the deafening cheers of LUVITY filled the venue as the members to the stage for a performance of “A to Z.” Finally bringing the night to an official end, the members each took a moment to thank everyone for coming to see them and express their love for LUVITY. Several members took a moment to acknowledge that this was their third time in Chicago and this time they were on their own tour. Some notable ments occurred as Woobin expressed that he feels alive when he hears LUVITY’s cheers, Allen was sure to acknowledge that Chicago was a special city for the members of CRAVITY because it was the first time that they were able to hear the cheers of LUVITY, Serim acknowledged how much fun he was having on stage that he “refelt what it truly meant to be an artist,” and Minhee focused solely on LUVITY saying, “From today… YOU ARE MY BIAS!” After this heartfelt and encouraging moment from the members, it was Woobin’s turn to introduce the final song which he “wrote for his besties, LUVITY.” LUVITY, with the help of Jungmo and Allen, cheered “WOOBIN! WOOBIN! WOOBIN!” where he replied “I don’t think we can go with this energy, because this next song is a very touched song. This song expresses all of our emotions that we feel when performing for LUVITY.” Members took this final moment to interact with and acknowledge LUVITY all around the venue as they waved goodbye and shared hearts during their final stage, “Light My Way.” Shoutout and a big “Thank You” goes out to the team at Studio PAV, Starship Entertainment and the members of CRAVITY for allowing us the opportunity to provide coverage for this show!
