The Shops at Skyview, a multi-level shopping destination in Flushing, Queens, invites the community to a weekend-long “Singles’ Day” event on Saturday and Sunday, November 9th and 10th, to encourage singles to enjoy shopping, exploring new fashion trends, and celebrating themselves and their single friends and family members.
“Singles’ Day,” traditionally celebrated on November 11th to symbolize single “1s,” began in China as an unofficial holiday marked by large sales events and, in South Korea, the sharing of “1”-shaped chocolate-covered pretzel sticks called “pepero” as small tokens of affection or friendship similar to what Americans might do on Valentine’s Day. This year, on the weekend before November 11th, The Shops at Skyview will be the very first shopping center in the United States to introduce a Singles’ Day event modeled after this popular Asian tradition and specifically designed to help area singles learn about the hottest new beauty and fashion trends while building personal connections with one another. During this event, guests will enjoy a two-day celebration featuring a fashion runway, a flash fashion swap, style demonstrations, an interactive photo booth, a customized t-shirt station, a singles’ fashion party, and a first-ever U.S. appearance by the wildly popular K-drama actor Bae In-hyuk with eight “Singles’ Date with Bae” activities.

This Singles Weekend will be filled with countless opportunities to mingle with others. Beginning Saturday, on Level 4 at 2:00 PM, there will be a fashion show featuring the fall and winter collection of popular brands followed by the center's Singles' fashion party where attendees can participate in eight fun activities including coat swap for a cause, the price i right, cover model photo booth, customization station, best of beauty claw machine, complimentary snacks, lucky back, and exclusive one-day coupons. Sunday's festivities begin at 2:00PM a super star makeover where two lucky winners will be selected for a Sephora makeover on stage followed by Singles' Date with Bae where the well-known K-drama actor will be taking the stage for a short Q&A session before judging a fashion contest between the five finalists of the #OOTD Instagram contest. Bae In-hyuk will also be surprising fans with additional on-stage activities and a short fan sign / selfie session with fans.
