Writer's picture: K FuseK Fuse

The heat of the summer was full throttle as Georgia K-Pop fans greeted the sensational Chinese-American, New York-born Beomhan on October 6, at the 2024 Korean Foundation Festival in Atlanta!

Beomhan, the multi-talented artist known for his rapping, singing, and dancing skills, has etched his name in the hearts of fans across Atlanta and its neighboring areas. Starting his musical journey as a trainee under Fly Music (FM) Entertainment, he made his first release with pre debut single, "Sun's Up," featuring Roda of M.O.N.T on July 2, 2021, setting the stage for a remarkably inspirational journey that showcases his perseverance, determination. With each release, Beomhan showcased his evolution as an artist, highlighting his versatility. Beyond his musical talents, Beomhan's genuine and heartfelt interactions with fans at various events have underscored his profound gratitude for their unwavering support. His ability to forge personal connections with fans old and new distinguishes him as an artist who treasures the bond he shares with his audience. In 2023, Beomhan separated from FM Entertainment, embracing a new chapter that allowed him to reveal a more vulnerable and authentic side to his adoring fans, fondly known as Tiger Cubs. This transition paved the way for his highly anticipated solo debut as an independent artist in 2024 with "Me, Myself, and I." Moreover, his engaging SNS live series, "Mental Mondays," offered fans deeper insights into his thoughts and emotions, fortifying the connection between Beomhan and his devoted supporters. As Beomhan continues to make his own path in the music industry, his unyielding passion, talent, and dedication stand as a source of hope and inspiration for fans worldwide.

Sporting a radiant smile, Beomhan was greeted with thunderous cheers and applause from festival goers as he took the stage! Warmly welcoming fans from near and far, Beomhan introduced himself to those in attendance before beginning his performance. The moment arrived to captivate the audience with a meticulously crafted performance of his pre-debut track, "Sun's Up," a song celebrating his journey from New York to enduring grueling 16-hour training days. Leading the crowd in a spirited rendition of the "fan chant" for "Ashes," Beomhan enlisted the help of Tiger Cubs and festival-goers, igniting the atmosphere with an infectious energy!

"For this next song, when I say, "불질러, To the ashes...," you say, 'TO THE ASHES!'

After a few practice rounds, attendees rose to the occasion, showcasing their enthusiasm! During his electrifying performance of "Ashes," Beomhan dazzled the audience with his dynamic dance moves and commanding stage presence as he filled the stage. Transitioning seamlessly to "The Awakening," a song embodying resilience and self-empowerment, Beomhan effortlessly alternated between soulful vocals, powerful rap verses, and impeccable choreography, while showcasing his carefree energy. Introducing his next act, "Jackpot," the lead single from his upcoming re-debut album, Beomhan expressed his desire to provide fans with a song that they can embrace and share with pride! The final segment began with a powerful declaration,

"If you are here, you are my strongest soldier! This year was not easy for Beomhan fans,..."

as he introduced the emotionally charged "Me, Myself, and I," his solo debut track released on January 31, 2024. Despite the public's initial reaction to “Me, Myself, and I,” Tiger Cubs and festival attendees erupted in cheers and screams of support, joining Beomhan in unison for the songs' chorus!

Between the afternoon and evening performances, Beomhan engaged with fans through hi-touch sessions, a fan sign session, and selfies, embodying his genuine connection with his supporters. During the second act, attendees witnessed Beomhan's authenticity shine as he shared personal experiences and a deeper look into his musical journey.

"I'm going to flip a coin…. …If it lands on tails, I’m going to go be a K-Pop idol. I flipped the coin, never looked at it, and booked a flight to Korea. ..."
~ Beomhan

Just before Beomhan stepped onto the stage to showcase his many talents, we were fortunate enough to have an amazing sit-down with the skillful rising artist for a brief interview that seamlessly transitioned into a laid-back chat filled with admiration and emotion, exploring his musical journey and his highly anticipated upcoming re-debut album!

K Fuse: Hello, Beomhan!  Thank you for taking a moment to speak with us here at K Fuse, and sharing your story with our readers!  While we are pre-debut fans, some of our readers may be meeting you for the first time.  Could you please take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers?

Beomhan: Well, hello K Fuse and K Fuse readers… I know you have a name,..."

K Fuse: SoundLovers!

Beomhan: What's up, SoundLovers?!? It's me, Beomhan, here today! I'm a former K-Pop trainee turned independent artist releasing my own music in America. My dream is to be the biggest pop star in the world, and I hope you guys can come and support me on this journey.

K Fuse: I like that dream! If you could describe yourself as an artist in three words, what three words would you choose, and why?

Beomhan: Unhinged -- for sure. Passionate. and Dedicated. I am dedicated to my work, my art, and—most importantly—my fans.

K Fuse: That's noticeable. In everything that you do, that can be seen.

What would you say is your greatest musical influence?

Beomhan: My greatest musical influence is Michael Jackson. I love Michael Jackson so much!

K Fuse: What's your favorite song?

Beomhan: "The Way You Make Me Feel."

K Fuse: Oooooh! Okay! ^_^

Beomhan: Too long, though. Very long. It gets to the point I'm like, "wait..., I've been listening to this for six minutes." I'm enjoying it, Sorry, Michael Jackson. I love you.

K Fuse: What's been the biggest change going from an artist managed under a label to being an independent artist?

Beomhan: So, I think the biggest part of it is focus, and I have a lot of trouble focusing. When I was back at my label, I could spend 16 to 18 hours a day training, just worrying about nothing but my art. Now it's more about managing the merch, managing the websites, running the social media, and doing all that stuff. Doing it all by myself is gratifying in a way, and I feel very accomplished. But it is a lot to handle sometimes.

K Fuse: You made your solo debut with "Me, Myself & I."  Can you talk us through your creative process for that song?

Beomhan: What I wanted to try to convey was a celebration of independence. I wanted a song that could uplift people, empower them to dance and move, and empower them to find some kind of energy in being alone. That was my message. How well that came across?!?! I don't know! … well… I do know.

K Fuse: We (as) fans, and a lot of readers supported that song.

Beomhan: Thank you!

The conversation continued as if talking to a longtime friend, with honest and emotionally charged answers as they continued to flow from Beomhan as he elaborated each answer to fully translate and show his heart for not only Tiger Cubs, but also casual listeners of his music, and casual viewers of his SNS live streams.

K Fuse: You have participated in several fan engagement events in the past and even now. What has been the most exciting part of these events for you?

Beomhan: I think the greatest honor for an artist is to be able to make an impact, whether it's to be able to change someone's life, change a society, a culture, or move something forward. It's always been my goal to help one person and just touch someone who was like me at one point. Even the reason I want to be famous is so that I can reach as many people as possible. Now, my favorite part about these fan engagements is hearing the fans' stories and truly understanding that what I do matters—at least to one person or to one person who came to the concert that day. That's my favorite part.

K Fuse: That's actually a good intro into our next question. You host Instagram lives – known as Mental Health Monday lives.  How did you get started, and what is your goal in doing these lives?

Beomhan: I wasn't too sure about whether to do the lives or not. Lately, doing them has definitely brought back some backlash. But my goal for it, like I said, is to just help one person. I know that I myself struggle with a bunch of mental health issues, and if someone I looked up to were able to speak about something I was going through, I know it would help me. So, I thought, okay, whether there's backlash or not, I just wanted to be this for one person at least.

K Fuse: I know that several of our followers tune into those lives.  I have also tuned into those lives, and while I do not personally suffer from any known mental health issues, (I am surrounded by some who do), your lives have given me a new perspective on what they may be going through, and how to approach them (during difficult times).

You’re vulnerable in front of your fans during your lives. When you do this, do you have a plan? When you do these lives, do you predetermine what you're going to talk about, or ...?

Beomhan: So, to be safe…, I do try to plan it. As Beomhan, I often do not read the notes and go off-script – my bad, guys! And like you said, it does open up that vulnerability. The scary part about vulnerability is the possibility of being attacked. And if you are vulnerable without expecting to be attacked, then you are expecting to be invincible…, which no one is. So that's how I also try to deal with backlash on Mental Health Mondays and other things. I just try and prepare myself — okay, I am going to be vulnerable, and people are going to attack me, but that's part of being strong. And it's more about what's the deeper message or meaning that I have.

K Fuse: Can you hint at, or spoil any upcoming projects?  We have heard that you are releasing a new album soon!

Beomhan: BOOM! So, I have a new album coming very soon! We have a main track that everyone will be able to hear, and we have been giving sneak peeks of it—called "JACKPOT!" And I want to say, "I'm sorry" to all Beomhan fans for the past year. If you are a Beomhan fan, you are the strongest soldier on this planet!

"Aye! Checkout Beomhan!"

"Oh yeah? Let me listen to his music! Wait..."

So with this new album, we are going to change all that and come with good music and good things that the fans can rally behind and be proud of.

K Fuse: What inspired “JACKPOT," and what message would you like to convey to listeners of "JACKPOT?”

Beomhan: With the album -- it's called 'Vibration,' and it's about positive messaging, looking forward, manifesting good things and happy things in your life, and just staying positive. It's a simple message for casual listeners to hop on to, but also for Beomhan fans -- for people who are on this journey with us, they'll know the deeper meaning of the positive messaging, and how really strong and important it truly is.

K Fuse: What genre would you classify “JACKPOT” as?

Beomhan: It's like pop, R&B, and K-Pop. It's like me -- it's a lot of things.

K Fuse:  And all good things!

So, as long-time supporters, given the public response to “Me, Myself, and I,” we are looking forward to this new release and are rooting for you to receive a more positive public response! Are you worried of this being a “re-debut” for you?

Beomhan: No, because I'm actually really proud of it, and I think this is an opportunity and privilege given to me by fans. My manager here tells me all the time, "This is not normal. No one has ever taken back a record." So, really, this whole re-debut is an empowerment message -- also from the fans -- about how fans aren't going to let me down. So, I am proud of it, I'm proud of the weakness that it also shows, and the strength in the community that it shows. So, yeah, it's a re-debut.

K Fuse: We are looking forward to it. What is the most rewarding part of being an independent artist? Most challenging?

Beomhan: The most rewarding part about being an independent artist is being proud of my work and my own art. The most challenging is creating my own work and my own art. It's both gratifying and challenging, but it's also gratifying in its challenges.

K Fuse: I get that with creating content

Beomhan: Girrl! Creating content Monday through Friday. Can I take the weekend off?

K Fuse and Beomhan: Nope, can't do that ~chuckles~

K Fuse: What has been the best piece of advice you have been given throughout your musical journey?

Beomhan: This isn't a musical advice per se, but it's something that my mom taught me that always sticks with me. Life is hard... and everybody's life is hard... but there's some people who smile, and some people who don't. So, it is hard, just do it with a smile.

K Fuse: What is your fandom name, and how did your fandom get its name?

Beomhan: It's the Tiger Cubs! Beomhan means "To Be A Tiger!" Beom means "tiger," Han means "to be," and I love my fans -- I have a tattoo dedicated to it!

K Fuse: Is there a message that you would like to leave your fans and our readers?

Beomhan: Thank you, Tiger Cubs, and thank you, SoundLovers, for all of your support throughout the years, and thank you for believing in me. I know that the journey has been a wild up-and- down, and to still be with me truly means a lot to me. I hope that one day I can meet you all. My dreams wouldn't be possible without each and every one of you. I love you all, and thank you again.
