The Windy City was yet again greeted by Starship Entertainment’s nine-member boy group, CRAVITY on June 18, 2023. 394 days after their participation in KCON’s KCON Premiere 2022 in Chicago on May 20, 2022, members Serim, Allen, Jungmo, Woobin, Wonjin, Minhee, Hyeongjun, Taeyoung, and Seongmin returned to Chicago for their first solo U.S. tour. With this being a Studio PAV tour, there was one major difference: the members of CRAVITY had time to meet with LUVITY thanks to Studio PAV’s fan-favorite snapshot session, hi-touch session, and fan sign!
The streets of Chicago were already bustling with the sounds of city traffic, while the street of W Lawrence Ave where the Copernicus Center can be found was bustling with the sounds of excited LUVITY. As fans arrived at the 1,800-capacity venue, they began their check-in process to receive their lanyards and long-awaited, and highly desirable snapshot tickets. Once check-in was completed fans were then separated based on their tier level, and thanks to STUDIO PAV’s no-line rule, this process has never been easier. When fans purchase their tickets, they are assigned a queue spot in line, and this is the order in which fans line up when they separate into tiers. Once LUVITY found their spot in line, it was time to go meet the members of CRAVITY for a fan sign, hi-touch session and group photo.
Once fan engagements ended, it was time to enter the venue and await showtime. As LUVITY entered the venue they were greeted with a screen illuminated with a puzzle that was missing a piece and read “CRAVITY 1st World Tour MASTERPIECE.” As LUVITY took to their seats — some even found their way to the barricade — the venue went dark and LUVITY’s cheers filled the venue as the intro VCR began. Cheers settled as the VCR came to an end, and immediately filled the venue — only this time LUVITY were twice as loud — as the members took the stage.
The initial stage performances of “Get Lifted,” “Baddie,” and “My Turn” set the energy for the first part of the night – as fans cheered louder with each stage performed. CRAVITY’s intensity was defined in just those first three songs with their wide-ranged vocal abilities, power-filled choreography and energetic raps; Which made it impossible for LUVITY to take their eyes away from the stage for even just a short moment. The members took a moment to introduce themselves as a group, and individuals, before continuing with powerful and sexy concept stages such as “Flip The Frame” and “Veni Vidi Vici,” before Woobin introduced the next stage with the following hint:
Woobin: “I have really bad bad stuff”
Members: “Stuff? What stuff?”
Woobin: “I have a bad habit”
CRAVITY finished out their first set of powerful stages with “Bad Habits” and “Gas Pedal” before slowing things down with “Give Me Your Love,” which allowed the members time to acknowledge and interact with LUVITY before picking up the venue’s energy, once again, with “Maybe Baby,” “Fly,” and fan-favorite “Boogie Woogie.” These stages showed a contrast from the beginning of the concert by “showing a more youthful concept” (Taeyoung) from the members.
CRAVITY wrapped up their bright and youthful stages while still choosing different members to introduce songs where Wonjin introduced “Ooh Aah” by its chorus’ easily identifiable choreography, “PARTY ROCK,” — which had the Copernicus Center filled with the sounds of LUVITY singing along to every word — was introduced by ALLEN saying, “When I say party, you say rock,” and proceeded to interchange shouts between himself and LUVITY.
The group returned to the stage to show stages that mixed the two concepts of powerful and youthful, starting with “VIVID'' and “New Addiction,” where LUVITY’s cheers filled venue once again confirming that CRAVITY has indeed became Chicago’s new addiction. We then arrived at three highly anticipated fan-favorite stages,“Jumper,” “POW!,” and “GROOVY.” These high-energy stages had the crowd wanting more as it was apparent that the members were having the time of their lives on stage — so much so that they had almost forgotten to take a bow and tell LUVITY that “GROOVY” would be their final stage. As LUVITY awaited the encore stages, it didn’t take long before, “All on my mind, All on my mind” and the deafening cheers of LUVITY filled the venue as the members to the stage for a performance of “A to Z.”
Finally bringing the night to an official end, the members each took a moment to thank everyone for coming to see them and express their love for LUVITY. Several members took a moment to acknowledge that this was their third time in Chicago and this time they were on their own tour. Some notable ments occurred as Woobin expressed that he feels alive when he hears LUVITY’s cheers, Allen was sure to acknowledge that Chicago was a special city for the members of CRAVITY because it was the first time that they were able to hear the cheers of LUVITY, Serim acknowledged how much fun he was having on stage that he “refelt what it truly meant to be an artist,” and Minhee focused solely on LUVITY saying, “From today… YOU ARE MY BIAS!”
After this heartfelt and encouraging moment from the members, it was Woobin’s turn to introduce the final song which he “wrote for his besties, LUVITY.” LUVITY, with the help of Jungmo and Allen, cheered “WOOBIN! WOOBIN! WOOBIN!” where he replied
“I don’t think we can go with this energy, because this next song is a very touched song. This song expresses all of our emotions that we feel when performing for LUVITY.”
Members took this final moment to interact with and acknowledge LUVITY all around the venue as they waved goodbye and shared hearts during their final stage, “Light My Way.”
Shoutout and a big “Thank You” goes out to the team at Studio PAV, Starship Entertainment and the members of CRAVITY for allowing us the opportunity to provide coverage for this show!
